Arches
A program for Asperger's Syndrome

Arches is a dynamic and multi-faceted residential treatment program for adolescents ages 12 through 17 years of age who have been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.

The Arches program is a highly structured environment that creates teaching and learning opportunities.  The goal of the Arches program is to prepare the youth to return home and integrate into their home communities successfully.  Treatment, learning and skills development will be taught in individual and small group (2-4 teens) settings.  Each teen will be placed in a group to match their current level of social understanding and their ability to maintain appropriate behavior.

The components of the Arches program include:

  • Individualized treatment plans
  • Academics
  • Assistive technology
  • Vocational training
  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Recreation therapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Dietary services
  • Daily physical fitness
  • Psycho-educational & skills development
  • Drug & alcohol education & treatment      (as needed)
  • Medication management/education
  • Psychiatric consultation

The Arches program stresses both basic and advanced learning instruction that can be adapted to multiple social and vocational settings.  Staff will use role playing, experiential activities, and tactile leaning to assist with the instruction.

As youth advance through the program and develop additional skills they will have the opportunity to assist and/or role model for other youth that may be entering the program or struggling with certain skills.

The milieu program consists of two components.  The first component is a level system designed to give students immediate and consistent feedback to assist and teach them how to maintain positive and appropriate behavior.  The second component is a series of five social skills groups that will teach students the social skills they will need to function in social, academic, and employment settings.

All youth are closely supervised 24 hours a day in a safe and structured environment.
