Day Treatment
Copper Hills Youth Center Day
Treatment will provide eight hours of programming a day in a highly- structured
and supervised community environment that promotes change in the youth we
serve. The youth in our program are diagnosed with psychiatric disorders and
exhibit severe emotional and behavioral problems. Our program is designed
to help young people recognize and manage behaviors that have become
debilitating for them and their families.
Copper Hills Youth Center believes
that every resident has the potential to be successful. Each resident we serve
has the right to express their ideas and opinions in a safe, non-threatening
environment. We value each resident as a unique individual who has something
meaningful to offer to themselves and to others. We have designed our
program to meet the individual needs of the residents in a positive peer
culture, stressing the importance of unity and taking accountability of their
actions. The residents find success as they advance in the prescribed level
system. The core idea of the program is based on thinking errors and holding
residents accountable for their behaviors. Thinking errors are defined as
inaccurate ways people have learned to perceive themselves and their
environment. The more we use thinking errors the more likely we are to harm
others and be rejected by society. In the Day Treatment Program residents learn
to understand how they use thinking errors and how to stop from using them.
The role of staff at Copper Hills
Youth Center is to provide invested role models to guide residents through
positive change as they work the program and their individualized treatment
plans. Residents receive 100% supervision and have a staff ratio of 1:6.
Residents receive a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation upon admission to Day
Treatment. Services are provided under the direction of a licensed
clinician and delivered by professional staff. A licensed physician provides
clinical oversight to all programs. All non-licensed direct care staff receive
three weeks of training at the time of hire and on-going training throughout
employment, to ensure quality of care.
